What is ComNet?

ComNet is a communications protocol conversion solution which lets you connect any supported protocol to any other: Async, Bisync, Interprocess, SNA, including LU6.2, TCP/IP, X.25.

This software solution seamlessly connects legacy protocols to TCP/IP. Each end of a connection will be unaware that the other end is using a different protocol. For example, you could connect TCP/IP devices to an X.25 application. The application would open ComNet which would appear as an X.25 device, and the device would connect to ComNet which would appear as a TCP/IP application.

ComNet has several configuration interface options which lets you perform protocol conversion between a device and an application, between two applications, or between two devices.

ComNet will also accept standard Guardian interprocess connections which means that any application can use ComNet as a communications server. The application would simply open ComNet and use standard Guardian write and read calls, and ComNet will perform all protocol handling for any selected protocol. This gives your applications protocol independence.

In all cases, ComNet offers multiple backup connections for every session. This means that if one connection fails, ComNet will automatically switch to another connection.
